Sologno
The built-up area goes along a narrow dorsal of watersheds that rises on the North of the Stetta Mountain, on the left of the Stream Lucola. The place was very important during the middle age: in fact in 1022 it belonged to the castle of Piolo and was under the feudal family of the Dallo than came in 1373 the Fogliani, after came the Estensi.
There rised a fortress of which a track wasn’t felt.
The village of Sologno is an example of defensive place of defensive place of ancient foundation, which exploits wisely the uneven morphological ground the urbanistic plant is linear, travelled over on longitudinally by a main road and interrupted by tipical underpass.
The old fortresswas placed, in the middle of the inhabitated place, in correspondence of a rise of the ground today surrounded by wally screenbuilding, the houses are placed in scolar form, the slope along, and strictly flanked by the only road carriageable that goes up the houses, the built up area creating a narrow obliged path easily defensible just in case of an assault.
The defensive features of the place can be seen from a turret, situated on the north extremity of the built-up area, which is garrison on the entrance of the core of the built up area.
An asphaltated carriageable in many points it is superimposed to the ancient lay-out, but any-way, some tracks are left near the place were the fortress rised : here you can notice a long paved underpass which flanked by ancient walls which lift up directly on the stone; the passage is overhanged by a massive woody frame which is supported by shelves shaped of forties type.
On the façade of some houses there are building elements which go up to the XVI-XVII-XVIII sec and are constituted by lintels, door jamps and windows in sandstone.
On the superior extremity of the built-up area you can see a court of the eighteenth century, which is carachterized by a vast central widening on which there are some tipical houses of service which have preserved the original slabs roof, the house of the authority is adorned by a portal cuspidated in sandstone and decorated in a fine way.
The instable nature, of the rocky of the substratum, which is constituted by marls easily flaky, it has in fact prevented the preservation of the most ancient : the major part of the houses feels the continuos rebuildings which happened during the centuries; the most important modification to the historical houses happened lately, they have brought a complete changing of the urban landscape: to the unmistakable rosy plasters of local production which gave an exclusive chromatic tonality to the curtain housebuilding, have been replaced by other industrial products extraneous to the local cultural context. Of the original urbain scene, valuable for its balanced relationship with the surrounding landscape, is left just a track of the inhabitated area, until now saved by interferences of restructuration. |
